OVERVIEW

An Architectural Window and door system built on the philosophy of various configurations of doors and windows with a common size platform coupling together in a common perimeter Seismic Fame.

The 115 Frame fits within a 132mm Seismic perimeter frame, and has 2 Track Sliding Doors, Hinged doors and Fixed / Sash Glazing options – all connected together with I Couplers, Box Couplers and Corner Box Couplers.

Where 3 Tracks are required there is also a 172mm Frame with the same attributes, and which fits within a 189mm Seismic Frame.

The Coupling arrangements allows for various combinations of internal frame types and functions to be coupled together in a continuous frame, - which for significantly glazed elevations provides continuous sight lines and finishing lines for Deck tiles, internal floor finishes as well as providing security of weatherproofing by eliminating interfaces.

SPANS AND CAPACITY

Span Capacity varies project by project based on a number of interrelated variables, but a max sliding panel size in the 115mm Architectural System is circa 3000mmH x 1800mmW

The System can be used in demanding wind zones up to 3.6kPa ULS and with a Seismic Interfloor Drift ULS 60mm

FRAME TYPES AND FEATURES

The 115 (2 Track) Frame fits within a common 132mm Seismic Perimeter Frame

The 172mm (3 Track) Frame sits within a common 189mm Seismic Perimeter Frame

Seismic Heads, Jambs and Cills are generally rebated into the Architectural finishes such that the inside face of the Seismics are flush with Internal Finishes, reducing the amount of visible aluminium.

SLIDING PANELS, HINGED DOORS AND SASHES

The system is designed to accommodate Sliding, Stacking, and Hinged Doors, as well as Fixed Glazing and Top Hung Awning Sashes

Sliding Panel Fixed Lights, the Sliding Panels plus any Hinged Door Leaves all carry a common Sight Line through the Bottom Rail Extrusion for architectural continuity and consistency.

The Awning Sashes sit flush within the frames with a negative detail inside and out for clean geometric lines.

Sizes of panels and configurations vary with local wind pressures and site conditions.

INFILLS AND GLAZING CAPACITY

The Glazing cavity of the 115mm Window and Door System can be adapted with beads to accommodate a variety of glass thicknesses from 6mm single glazed to 27mm Double glazed

PERFORMANCE

The 50mm Window System has been tested to a wind pressure (ULS) of 3.6kPa and ULS Interfloor Drift of 60mm

The system performance varies depending on

  • Panel Size

  • Mullion Centres

FINISHES / COLOURS / HARDWARE

The System can be Surface Finished in a variety of options.

  • Powdercoat to AAMA2604 in Standard Dulux, Akzo Nobel or Custom Colours

  • PVDF Finish to AAMA2605

  • Anodised 20 Micron

  • Electrophoresis Anodised Finish

A variety of different hardware options can be accommodated within the system.

PERFORMANCE TESTING

KFI Curtain Wall Systems are generally Tested at an ILAC Accredited International Testing Facility to the Requirements of AS/NZS 4284

A library of Tests are kept for each system type, and if a project performance requirement exceeds or differs significantly from test reports on file, a project specific test can be carried out.

INSTALLATION

Installation is typically carried out by KFI as a part of the façade contract in order to give effect to warranties and producer statements.

MAINTENANCE

At the completion of a project KFI will compile and hand over a set of Completion Documents which includes a written Operation and Maintenance Manual – specifying the required cleaning, maintenance and inspection regime for various parts of the façade for the duration of the warranty period.

NZBC COMPLIANCE

A Compliance Pathway Report is created for each project, listing compliance with the following mandatory provisions of the New Zealand Building Code

B1 – Structure

B2 – Durability

E2 – External Moisture

F2 – Hazardous Building Materials

F4 – Safety from Falling

In addition to this KFI provides information on the Curtain Wall System to enable the satisfaction of

C3 – Fire affecting Areas Beyond the Source

G4 – Ventilation

G6 – Airborne and Impact Sound

G7 – Natural Light

H1 – Energy Efficiency
