KFI worked with Kalmar and Jasmax to design, manufacture, and supply a series of custom aluminium fins for UniLodge, a 15-level student accommodation tower in central Auckland. The fins were produced in various profiles, lengths, and colours, and were engineered with bespoke connections to accommodate structural tolerances in the precast façade panels.

A key design consideration was mitigating potential wind-generated noise; KFI addressed this through the use of three aluminium thicknesses and vibration testing. The result is a functional and visually dynamic façade element that enhances the building’s identity while meeting structural and acoustic performance standards.
