GENERAL SYSTEM MANAGEMENT
Teracotta is a great way to add ‘mass’ and ‘density’ into a façade design. Teracotta comes in a variety of profiles and colours and similar to other non glazed solutions can be applied either as a rainscreen over a structure, or incorporated within a curtainwall panel where it adopts the movement capacity and functionality of the curtainwall itself. Teracotta, in either a rainscreen or a curtain wall cladding, is generally fitted into an engineered aluminium subframe, which is designed to keep the terracotta secure in combinations of wind loads and seismic actions. The design of the subframe depends on the teracotta panel size and weight, - from 120mm high brick slips to 2400mm high, 40mm thick, large scale cladding panels.
OPTIONS AND FEATURES
As mentioned above terracotta can range from small thin brick slip tiles to large format cladding panels. In addition the product can be formed into 3 dimensional profiles including 100mm profiled depth, and up to 1500mm die widths. The surface finish can be either “through colour” dyes, such as brick slips and the traditional orange terracotta colour and various earth tones, - or alternatively supplied in unrestricted options of glazed colours.
