Completion 2017
Paul Brown Architects
KFI was engaged to design, manufacture, and install a curtain wall solution for the conversion of a six-level oval-shaped commercial building into a fifteen-level apartment tower. Working alongside Summit Construction, PBA, and Aurecon, the final façade solution featured a modified 200mm unitised curtain wall system, mounted on a custom three-way adjustable bracket to accommodate significant variations in the existing structure.
Balconies were enclosed with frameless glass balustrades and accessed via KFI’s high-rise sliding door system installed into timber-framed openings. The adjacent walls were clad in 3mm solid aluminium panels over a rigid air barrier, and inter-tenancy balcony screens were installed using powder-coated 20mm honeycomb panels to match the rest of the façade. The solution was selected over a traditional cladding and punched window approach for its quality, speed of installation, and architectural impact.
