KFI was engaged to deliver the bespoke façade system for the Geyser Building, New Zealand’s first commercial development to achieve a 6 Star Green Star Design rating. The project comprises five interconnected three-storey buildings designed to maximise energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality through a range of innovative features.
The façade consists of a frameless twin-skin system, with internal laminated low-E glass and top-hung manual sliding doors supported by laminated glass fins. The operable outer skin comprises fixed and pivoting frameless glass panels that are electronically controlled to regulate airflow and temperature within the cavity.
Low iron screen-printed glass links the five structures through walkways, lifts, and stairwells, creating visual cohesion and transparency across the site. Engineered to balance thermal performance, occupant comfort, and architectural clarity, the façade plays a central role in defining the Geyser Building’s sustainable and design-led identity.
