KFI was engaged to deliver the full façade package for the Christchurch Hospital Outpatients Building—a five-storey, 10,500 m² healthcare facility developed to replace services lost in the 2011 earthquakes.
The façade features a combination of high-performance glazing and solid cladding panels, arranged in a staggered, rhythmic pattern to balance natural light, privacy, and structural movement tolerance. Designed for ±80 mm seismic movement, the façade integrates robust detailing around windows, joints, and service interfaces.
Glazed wings maximise daylight in public and clinical spaces, while the central tower provides architectural contrast and civic presence. The envelope was engineered for long-term durability, thermal performance, and compliance with strict healthcare building standards.
