UNI LODGE - AUCKLAND
The team at KFI worked with Kalmar, Jasmax and to design and manufacture a series of aluminium fins to be attached to a precast 15 level student accommodation building.

The fins were designed in a number of different profiles, lengths and colours and connection details were engineered to economically address the structural tolerances in the precast panels.
​
The biggest consideration for the KFI engineers on this project was the possibility of wind generated noise.
The solution was to consider 3 different thicknesses of aluminium for strength reasons and a proof test to assess vibration. This may or may not have involved bolting these to the roof of a vehicle and driving at speed…
